Katherine Knox | Green Designer, B.S. | Feng Shui Practitioner

A native to Florida, Katherine Knox, also known as Kat, is an artist and designer 
who is passionate about nature and the environment.  She received her B.S. Degree 
in Interior Design from ‘The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’ and her A.S. Degree in Graphic Design.  She became a member of the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) in 2008 and is currently studying to become LEED G.A. / Homes. 

After graduation Kat went to work for an architect in Boca Raton, Florida and then an Interior Designer in Palm Beach, Florida.  Today, Kat has decided to focus on 'Green' design with her own company Sustainable Designs LLC.  Being that she has traveled around the world to places like England, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Thailand, Japan and China gives her a broad and eclectic taste, and style. 

Along with being a Green Designer Kat is a Feng Shui Practitioner.  Incorporating Feng Shui within a design can bring harmony and balance to your living space. Feng shui can enhance or simply add health, wealth and prosperity to your life.

Sustainable Designs can work with you on Kitchen & Bath, Space Planning, AutoCAD Drawings, Color & Finishes, Total Renovations, and New Construction. Below are a few pictures of our work / designs. (more photos to come)

Custom Eco-Friendly 'Built-In'  Jupiter, Florida 2008
(We used FSC Certifed & formaldehyde-free woods along with low-VOC paints.
The carpet was recycled before applying hard-wood floors using a low-VOC glue. 
An 'Energy Star' Television and laptop was installed along with sustainable 
Bamboo chairs.)

(We included the clients antiques into this room along with some newer pieces of furniture.  We brought the five elements of Feng Shui in the space as well, which are Wood, Fire, Metal, Water & Earth. And again, we used low-VOC paints & glues)

LUBBERS QUARTERS, BAHAMAS

Abacos, Bahamas 2007

(BirdhouseCottages.com are 'Green Rental Properties' located on Lubbers Island in the Bahamas. We chose sustainable Bamboo Flooring, low-VOC paints, straw blinds and eco-friendly concrete & stain for the kitchen counter tops.  We also selected second hand furniture & accessories which cuts back on consumption.  Both cottages function on rainwater harvesting systems, providing 100% of water demand.)
